Figma Make Review: Features, Pricing & Alternatives
Figma's prompt-to-app tool that turns ideas and Figma designs into working, code-backed prototypes.
What is Figma Make?
Figma Make is the AI prompt-to-app tool inside Figma. You describe an app, website or interaction in plain English, or paste in frames from a Figma Design file, and Make writes a working, code-backed prototype that you can click through, edit with further prompts and share with a link. It sits alongside Figma Design, FigJam, Slides, Sites and Buzz in the same account.
Figma announced Make at its Config conference in May 2025. In December 2025 the company moved all AI features, including Make, onto a monthly AI credit allowance per seat, and it began enforcing those limits on 18 March 2026. At Config 2026 in June, Figma showed canvas-to-code editing, which lets designers visually edit a production codebase, create Git branches and open pull requests from Make, in a limited beta for the Mac desktop app.
What makes Make different from general app builders is its link to the design file. It can start from your real screens, components and styles rather than a blank prompt, and screens can be copied back from Make into Figma Design. That makes it most useful for teams who already live in Figma and want prototypes that look like their product rather than a generic template.
Key features of Figma Make
- Prompt to prototypeDescribe an app or flow and Make generates a working, interactive prototype with real code behind it.
- Start from Figma designsAttach frames from a Figma Design file so the output follows your existing layouts and styles.
- Point-and-editSelect an element in the preview and ask for a specific change instead of rewriting the whole prompt.
- Code viewOpen and edit the generated code directly when you need precise control.
- Codebase editing (beta)Since Config 2026, a limited beta lets teams edit a production codebase visually, create branches and open pull requests.
- Share and publishShare a live prototype link for feedback or user testing, or publish a simple web app.
Who is Figma Make best for?
- Product designers who want to test real interactions and states that are hard to fake with static prototypes.
- Product managers who need a clickable concept to explain an idea before engineering time is spent.
- Design-led teams on Figma who want AI output that reuses their own screens and styles.
- Front-end engineers who want designers to propose changes as reviewable pull requests.
Popular ways to use Figma Make
- Interactive prototypes: turn a static Figma flow into a clickable prototype with working inputs and states.
- Concept testing: build a quick app idea to show stakeholders or run a user test.
- Micro-interactions: explore animations and transitions by describing them in plain English.
- Internal tools: mock up a simple dashboard or form-based tool to validate a workflow.
- Design-to-code handoff: in the beta, propose UI changes to a real codebase as a pull request.

Figma Make pros and cons
Pros
- Starts from your real Figma designs
- Produces working prototypes, not just mockups
- Included in existing Figma seats
- Strong path from design to code review in 2026
- Free tier to try it
Cons
- Credit limits can run out quickly on complex apps
- Codebase editing is still a limited beta
- Not a full production app platform
- Seat and credit pricing takes effort to understand
How to get started with Figma Make
- Sign in to Figma and open Make from the file browser.
- Write a short prompt describing the app, or attach frames from a Figma Design file.
- Review the preview and refine it with follow-up prompts or point-and-edit.
- Open the code view if you need exact changes.
- Share the prototype link with your team or test users.
Tips to get better results from Figma Make
- Attach a few key frames rather than a whole file so the output stays focused.
- Ask for one change at a time to save credits and keep results predictable.
- Check your seat’s monthly credit balance before starting a big build.
- Copy finished screens back into Figma Design to keep your source of truth in one place.
Figma Make vs alternatives
Figma Make competes with prompt-to-app builders such as v0, Lovable and Bolt.new. Those tools are stronger for shipping full-stack apps with databases and hosting, while Make’s advantage is that it starts from your Figma screens and keeps designers in a familiar tool.
For early UI exploration, Google Stitch is free and generates multi-screen designs quickly, and Uizard and Visily suit non-designers who want fast mockups. If your team already pays for Figma, Make is usually the most natural first choice. See all best AI design tools.
Our verdict: is Figma Make worth it?
Figma Make is the best fit for teams already on Figma who want working prototypes that look like their product. It is not a replacement for a production app platform, and heavy users should watch their AI credits, but for design-led prototyping it is hard to beat.
