MagicSchool Review: Features, Pricing & Alternatives
AI platform for K-12 teachers with 80+ planning tools and a safe AI space for students.
What is MagicSchool?
MagicSchool is an AI platform built for K-12 schools. Teachers get more than 80 tools for lesson plans, rubrics, quizzes, writing feedback, report card comments, IEP drafts and family emails, plus an assistant called Raina. A student side, MagicStudent, gives classes more than 50 AI tools inside spaces that teachers set up and monitor.
Former teacher and principal Adeel Khan founded MagicSchool in 2023 in Denver, Colorado. It grew quickly among educators, and Dealroom reported an SEC filing for nearly $45 million in funding in early 2025. More than half of its team has K-12 experience, and the company says it does not use student or teacher data to train AI models.
Through 2025 and 2026 MagicSchool has moved toward district deals. Enterprise adds data privacy agreements, SSO, LMS rostering, admin dashboards and tool controls, and in 2026 it relaunched its Presentation Generator. Its focus on privacy compliance, including SOC 2, FERPA and COPPA claims, is a key difference from general chatbots.

MagicSchool vs alternatives
Brisk Teaching works as a browser extension inside Google Docs and other sites, while MagicSchool is a standalone platform with more tools. Diffit is more focused on leveled reading resources, and Curipod centers on interactive lessons and writing practice.
Khanmigo also offers free teacher tools backed by Khan Academy content. General assistants such as ChatGPT can do similar drafting but lack school privacy agreements and student controls. See all best AI education tools.
Our verdict: is MagicSchool worth it?
MagicSchool is one of the most complete AI toolkits for K-12 teachers, and the free plan is enough for many. Districts that want supervised student AI and privacy agreements should look at Enterprise. Teachers should still check every output before using it in class.
