Taskade Review: Features, Pricing & Alternatives

AI workspace that turns prompts into live apps with projects, AI agents and automations built in.

FreemiumProductivityReviewed October 2026

What is Taskade?

Taskade began as a collaborative outliner and task manager and has become an AI workspace where projects, databases, AI agents and automations live together. Its headline product, Taskade Genesis, turns a single prompt into a live, shareable app such as a CRM, dashboard or client portal, backed by your workspace data.

Taskade was founded in 2017 by John Xie (CEO) and Stan Chang (CTO), went through Y Combinator in Summer 2019, and is based in San Francisco. It runs on the web, desktop and mobile, and lets users choose among models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.

The big shift came in August 2025 with Taskade 6.0 and the Genesis preview, followed by an app publishing system and community gallery in November. Through 2025 Taskade also added multi-agent teams, branching automations, an MCP server, rebuilt mobile apps and custom domains. Pricing moved to a monthly AI credit system in December 2025.

Taskade pros and cons

Pros

  • Builds working apps from a single prompt
  • Projects, agents and automations in one tool
  • Choice of models from several AI labs
  • Low annual price for Pro
  • Apps on web, desktop and mobile

Cons

  • Credit system can be hard to predict
  • Free plan credits are one-time, not monthly
  • Broad feature set has a learning curve
  • Generated apps still need checking and testing

How to get started with Taskade

  1. Create a free account and verify your email to unlock starter credits.
  2. Try a community app template or describe your own app to Genesis.
  3. Add your data to projects or databases so agents have context.
  4. Create an agent and connect one automation, such as a Slack notification.
  5. Invite teammates and upgrade once you outgrow the free limits.

Tips to get better results from Taskade

  • Write Genesis prompts like a short spec: who uses the app, what data it stores and what should happen automatically.
  • Watch your credit usage in the first weeks before choosing between Pro and Business.
  • Keep sensitive data out of public or password-shared apps until you have reviewed access settings.
  • Clone a community app and modify it; it is often faster than starting from scratch.

Taskade vs alternatives

Taskade overlaps with Notion AI and ClickUp Brain as an AI workspace for notes and projects. Notion is stronger for documents and wikis, and ClickUp for complex project management, while Taskade puts more weight on generating apps and running agents.

For app building, Lovable produces real code you can own and extend, whereas Taskade apps live inside its platform. For automations, Zapier and Make connect more services with finer control. Taskade’s appeal is having all of these pieces in one affordable workspace. See all best AI productivity tools.

Our verdict: is Taskade worth it?

Taskade is a good fit for small teams and solo operators who want to spin up AI-powered tools, agents and workflows without code. Teams that need deep project management or fully owned code should look at specialist tools.
